Michael Tolbert Photography
Portfolio Website
April 2004
Technology Used: HTML / JAVASCRIPT
Photographer Michael Tolbert was looking for an original website that was unlike any other he had seen before. Together we decided to present his work in the style of a journal. Keeping with the feel that he wanted his work to seem worn and used, we chose to do the journal theme because we felt it gave more of a personal feeling to his work. Mike wishes his work to have to viewer question the world around them, and this is what we have accomplished with this website.

Vox Photography
Small Business Website
July 2005
Technology Used: HTML / JAVASCRIPT / FLASH / PHP
Vox Photography wished for a simple website that gave a large amount of information to thier customers. Going off of color choices made by Vox and the supplied logo I finally arrived at the design and layout that is live today. The layout aims for simple navigation and clear, comprehensible delivery of information to the end user. The incorporation of flash into some of the pages gives the website a lively feel that also keeps the page in motion. Slated to be completed later this year is a PHP/MySQL shopping cart. This will be used to view current photos taken for that client and allow them the ability to place orders as to what pictures they want in what size. this is ment to speed up the production process.

Saints & Sinners Tattoo Studio
Small Business Website
June 2004
Technology Used: HTML / JAVASCRIPT / ASP
The people at Saints and Sinners were looking to recreate thier web presence. They wanted a fresh look that would be eye catching yet remain true to the lifestyle they represent. Mainly just a redesign of the interface, I focused on the idea of Tattoos and Piercings while keeping in mind the professionalism of a world renowed business. What was born is the dark hearted, yet clean and simple look of the current Saints website. Some ASP code updates were made as well but they were happy with the site as it was and just looking for a fresh face.

Portfolio Website
April 2004
Technology Used: FLASH / PHP / HTML
Dreg Art is the online portfolio of Dave Regan. He was looking for a highly interactive site that was both fun to view and yet delivered the content he wished. Through a few designs we came up with what is currently live. Using Flash and HTML, I fused together the constant ability to update a site with the dynamic motion of a flash site. Using his artwork as basis for the design we went with a grungy, urban feel that personifies the lifestyle he lives. PHP was used for the contact form located on the site. His photo gallery is under constant update so if your interested, check it out often.

In the explosive world on Online Gaming, a website is often the heart and sole of what drives people. It is a vast means of communication and information for an unlimited audience. For the Counter Strike clan Team Lethal, this meant they needed a way for members to communicate with one another as well as keep up to date with the latest trends and tournaments. The design is one of a kind and is dirty in the sense that if amplifies the intensity and realism of the games this clan participates in. They wanted a deadly feel and site that would stand out from the pack.

Being a fan of the artist freedom doing sites like this provides, I said no problem, we can work something out. They wanted the ability to inform thier members of the happenings within the clan and let outsiders into thier world. Just like Team Lethal I chose to make the site dirty, used and war like. Maki Sushi
Instructional DVD
June 2004
Technology Used: FLASH / AUTHORWARE
Looking to create an educational and instructional cd, I came up with Maki Sushi. A CD-Rom that instructs, educates and tests you on your knowledge learned. This CD teaches you the basics of how to make sushi and does it in a light and minimalist atmosphere. It keeps with the traditional Japanese feel of minimalism and light. Functional as well as asthetically pleasing, this CD is a model for how you could market products.

Polk Audio
Electronic Owners Manual
August 2004
Technology Used: FLASH / PROTOOLS
With techonolgy moving so fast these days, why cant the instructions on how to use it be so advanced? Keeping with the idea that it is still and instruction piece as well as an owners manual I created an EOM or Electronic Owners Manuel for Polk Audios XM Radio Receiver. It is a DVD format EOM that answers question, helps setup the reciever, provides contact information, and helps you balance and adjust your home theater system. Using Flash as the backbone to present the information and Protools to record and mix the voice over assitance. In the end I created a High Tech, fully functional EOM that can accompany any item, not just an this specific product.

With the idea that it is released quarterly, it is made to display current skatedecks available as well as t-shirts, hats, shoes etc. As a bonus they provide music to listen to and video clips to view. AIPH Spring Fashion Show
Promotional Flyer
March 2003
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP / ILLUSTRATOR
Called upon by a friend to help her with the design for the Spring Fashion Show flyer for the Art Institute of Philadelphia, I created this. This was a promotional flyer that was produced and used for the show.
Chasing The Dragon Productions
Promotional Party Flyers
March-May 2002
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP / ILLUSTRATOR
One of my first graphic design works, these flyers were produced for a production company that was looking to step away from the norm when it came to flyer design. They chose me because of my style and use of imagery. Unlike many of the flyer you would find in stores, these were completely different, there for very eye catching. Ultimately they did what they needed, standing out from the rest and interesting people in the event advertised. Due to financial reasons the events stopped, but if called upon I would be more then happy to create designs for CTD again.
Dreg Art
Business Card
June 2004
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP / ILLUSTRATOR
Wanting to advertise the work of Dave Regan as well as provide him with a unique one of a kind business card, I created this. Its simple yet drives home the point that he is a Tattoo Artist. Unlike the traditional look of business cards, this card thinks of itself as a canvas and this shows by the graphic wrapping itself around the card. This also leads to you flip the card over and get the information Dave wants you to have.
Maki Sushi
DVD Label and Packaging
June 2004
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP / ILLUSTRATOR / QUARK
Using a clear DVD-ROM case, I chose to use these graphic for the packaging of my Maki Sushi Project. The packaging reflects the graphics found on the disc itself as well as provides all the information needed to the user. It tell whats it is and gives great photo reprensentations to back its function. Keeping with the feel of minimalism and balance, I feel I achieved my goal with this packaging. The packaging itself speaks volumes along with the CD contained inside.
Refused CD
CD Label and Packaging redesign
March 2003
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP / ILLUSTRATOR / QUARK
Developed for a Typography class in school, I redesigned the band Refused CD, Songs To Fan The Flames Of Discontent. The CD itself is very political in its lyrics and music. I wanted to reflect this in the packaging. Done around the same time as the second gulf war, I felt it would be a great way to express my feeelings using thier music and my imagery. The images used are a testiment to what the album states in its title. Tools used to fan the flames of discontent, in any form. Be they words, music, pictures or people, I feel represented what the band wished to show, a profound injustice that we place upon ourselves.
Saints & Sinners Tattoo Studio
Promotional flyer
June 2004
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP / ILLUSTRATOR
Saints and Sinners, being happy with my redesign of thier website, asked me to create a promotional flyer for thier store front. Keeping with the tone and feel of the website design, I created this piece. They wanted a vintage feel that reflected the time frame of the 20's to the 40's. They also wished for it to intice people to want to know what was going on, hence the graphic on the front. they wanted to break from the traditional Tattoo Shop flyer, and this is what they got. They still reprint this flyer for use today.

Only for those who know the movie well would this test be easy for, olther wise sit back and enjoy the quarky remarks from Ash.
Keylife Records
Website redesign
July 2004
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP
A class project that called for the redesign of a website that we felt needed help. Working in groups it was brought to my attention that the company of Keylife Records was in desperate need of a redesign for thier website. Knowing that image can make or break those in the music industry I chose a very urban feel. Combining textures and images to create an eye catching, fully functional website design. One that pointed out what Keylife wanted the user to know rather then hide it like thier current site. The remake was done entirely by me, as we as a group decided we all could make a design and we would chose from those the best one. Mine was chosen.
The Linthicum Family
Geneology Website
December 2004
Technology Used: PHOTOSHOP
Created so the Linthicum Family could communicate with one another, I chose the idea of a family scrapbook for this website design. With family members growing up, moving to college and others just finding new jobs in new cities, they wanted a way to keep in touch. This is still a work in progress and is slated to be finished around June 2006. It has an immense backend of PHP and MySQL. Keep an eye out for this one.

Tennesse Department of Child Services
Intranet and Training Program
December 2004
Technology Used: HTML / JAVASCRIPT / FLASH
Created for my Project Management class at AIPH, this was a piece done for the Tennesee State Department of Child Services. It required us to write an RFP, create a company and company logo, Intranet for the DCS and training program for its employes and volunters. Grouped in pairs of 4, we set out to accomplish what was asked of us. I had the position of Project Manager but also wound up doing a lot of the graphics and coding involved, but that is the role of a project manager I feel. Being involved in a project such as this means being involved in every aspect and seeing it through to the end no matter what outcome.
SkateSole E-Catalog
XML/Flash Shipping Calculator
August 2005
Technology Used: HTML / XML / FLASH
Created just for the pure experimentation of having flash and xml communicate. This shippinjg calculator is just a small part of a being project I would like to create. It can either grow into a catalog or an online shopping cart. The possibilities are endless and just go to show what is possible in the span of a day when I put my mind to it. This project from begging to end was one day, a total of 9 hours. I also feel I made this to prove to myself that great things can just come about and dont always take months of planning.
